Vancouver's Asahi win nail biter Mosquito final 4:3
Huge thanks to Club Secretary Sanda King for pulling off the first Newton Fall Ball Invitational Tournament. Fourteen teams from Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey Cloverdale and Delta all joined Newton for a spectacular weekend of Baseball. The park was full from dawn 'til dusk with happy kids and families all enjoying the baseball, concession and atmosphere.
Cloverdale represented making both Mosquito and PeeWee finals, falling to a strong Vancouver Asahi side in the mosquito final but beating our own PeeWee side.
Well done to all players and many thanks to all the parents and volunteers for making it all happen.
The kids are still filling the park as Fall Ball is well underway! We're even holding the First Annual Newton Fall Ball Invitational Tournament. 4 PeeWee Teams and Eight Mosquito teams will be filling the diamonds on the October 3rd & 4th Weekend. Watch this space for updates.
Wild Wings "Wild Ones" Mosquito Fall Ball team
A team of great folks participated in today's community walk, picking up trash around our neighbourhood. Newton Business Improvement Association President Philip Aguirre, a huge supporter and sponsor of our Baseball Association, led our volunteers around the Newton business core cleaning up the neighbourhood.
Newton Canadian AA Mosquitos lost in an epic 10 inning heartbreaker to the Surrey host team in the finals. Though they lost the final game, everyone's a winner. The club's participation at Lionel Courchene Park was epic. Camp Newton was a fantastic success and all the boys, girls and parents cheered one another on. The game of baseball was the biggest winner this weekend. Way to go players, coaches, volunteers and of course, parents!!

After a close, hard fought game, Newton Canadians Mosquito AA team came back to win in the bottom of the open 6th against a strong Cloverdale AAA side. Well done players and coaches and to the parents & supporters for baking in the sun all weekend. Thanks to Burnaby Minor, their Umps and volunteers for hosting a great Tournament and kudos to all the other teams with strong showings! Coaches take note: This warm up drill could catch on! Make sure you are properly warmed up too before you attempt any of these moves! It apparently worked as they went on to win the Tournament!

Happy Fathers Day and Congratulations to everyone who participated this Spring. Thanks to all the kids, parents, coaches, umpires and volunteers who made it such a success. The closing ceremonies were on another spectacular Sunday. The pancake breakfast was as tasty as ever, thanks to the ladies in concession slaving over the hot grill. Thanks to Club President Ben Dias for arranging the Bouncy castles from the City of Richmond, the kids had a blast.
Congratulations to Mark Stocco, Umpire of the Year.
Congratulations to Brad Swart on winning Coach of the Year!
The setting was perfect on the deck at the Surrey Golf Club. The BBQ Buffet rocked as much as the band. The beer flowed and the dancing went on 'til midnight. Thanks to all the volunteers for coordinating it all, to everyone who participated, to the many, many prize donors and those who donated at the silent auction! We'll be going even BIGGER next year, don't miss it!
Playoff Baseball, a BBQ, an awesome band - "Braidwood", crafts for the kids, sack races, fire trucks and on, and on... A great event put on by the Food Bank, Protein for People and BC Unions. Thank you on behalf of a grateful community for putting on such an awesome event!
Families from the association and neighbouring communities packed the park. The Movie and popcorn was completely FREE, sponsored by the Newton Business Improvement Association. Many, many thanks for your generous support and to all the volunteers who made it happen!

Thanks to everyone who made Movie Night In The Park such a HUGE Success!
The Movie Night in the Park was GREAT! Everyone enjoyed the Sandlot kids movie, a not to be missed baseball classic. Boston Pizza's Mascot Lionel was a huge hit with young and old alike. The field sprinklers didn't go off (yes, there was that possibility! They started to come on on the other fields but the city intervened and turned them off). Pizza, hot dogs, popcorn and safe fun in our local park; what an evening!!! Thanks to all who participated.
A group of Volunteers led by Club President, Ben Dias, made presentations to each grade at the elementary school behind Unwin Park, Kinvig. At the open day the following week we showed the kids the game, handed out hotdogs and signed up a bunch of new players. Want a showcase at your school?? Email email@example.com
