Welcome to the 2010 season

Thanks for expressing interest in umpiring for Newton this year.

Several things have fallen into place this past week that I am pleased to put forward to you.

First and foremost, there will be a "pooling" of umpires between North Delta and Newton. Although there will be a North Delta allocator and a Newton allocator (myself), there will be a common electronic database that will permit allocators to determine availability of an umpire for either Association.

Game fees in the two Associations will be the same and will be announced very soon.

A "mentor" bonus will be in place to reward more experienced umpires who work lower than normal level games in Newton to assist in developing newer umpires.

Clinic expenses (includes BCBUA membership) will be re-imbursed after completion of 4 games worked for Newton (provided the umpire has not been re-imbursed by another Association).

Tadpole games MAY be assigned a PeeWee age umpire who will work with a parent - (this is still to be determined).

Umpire supplies (shirt/jersey, hat, indicator, brush and ball bag) will be available. Details soon to follow.

Umpire payments - monthly by cheque.

Minimum age for umpires - must be born in 1998 or earlier (i.e. - first year PeeWee or older).

Clinics

Level 1 - cost $25.00 - for youth under 16, no more than 2 years umpire experience. Primary assignments will be Mosquito and Tadpole.

Level 2 - cost $50.00 - for all others.

Level 1's MUST attend a clinic. Level 2's who have umpired previously must be BCBUA members if they choose not to attend a clinic - see below.

Clinic Dates

North Delta - Level 1 and 2 will be held at Annieville Park/Bob Bunnett Field located at 112 St & 94 Ave in North Delta on Saturday 27 March 2010, running from 09:00-16:00 and tentatively on Sunday 28 March 2010, in both the Classroom and on the Field.
