Please email our Blastball Coordinator at blastball@newtonbaseball.com if you have any questions.

For baseball 4 - 5 year olds (DOB 2016 to 2017)

The blastball program is designed for baseball 4-5 year olds who are playing a team sport for the first time. This is a fast and fun game that introduces some basic concepts of baseball without the stress of learning the more complex game of T-Ball.  No score or standings are kept.

There are 7-8 players per team and each player gets an opportunity to hit the ball each inning. The bat and ball are foamy.  Equipment normally provided with covid RTP guidelines are listed below and all participants receive a netwon baseball t-shirt to keep.

Blastball is:

  • Fun
  • Easy to play
  • Fast-paced
  • All played within an hour

It's designed to:

  • Generate fast-paced action
  • Provide recreation and exercise
  • Create enthusiasm
  • Promote retention with simplicity

It teaches all five fundamentals of baseball:

  • Hitting
  • Throwing
  • Catching
  • Running
  • Fielding

Player Commitment

Practices are held once per week and the schedule is set by the coach. There is usually 1 game per week (1 hour total time) onSaturday or Sunday mornings.  Game start times will vary.  Games typically last 30-45 minutes and are followed by a parent-provided snack.

Parent Commitment

Blastball is NOT a drop-off activity. An adult must stay at the park for the duration of each session. Parents will be placed on a rotational schedule to help with bench and snack duties.

Blastball Field Locations

All games will be played at Unwin Park on the grassy area in front of the Tadpole Diamond #3 and Diamond #1 Bantam and Peewee or if available at a nearby field.   Most games will be on Saturday mornings (possibly the occasional Sunday depending on permits) and can be scheduled anytime between 9am and 1pm.

Required Equipment

It is necessary for your child to have their own glove, foam or plastic bat and optional batting helmet as during covid-19 orders sharing of equipment is discouraged or not allowed.
